WBA/WBC super bantamweight champion Guillermo Rigondeaux (14-0, 9 KOs) will return to action on December 31st at the Ota-City General Gymnasium in Tokyo, Japan. Rigoneaux, according to his promoter, will receive $500,000 to face Hisashi Amagasa (28-4-2, 19 KO), a featherweight contender, who is willing to move down to face the Olympic gold medal winner.

"This way we break a negative cycle around him. It is time to give the full attention to boxing."

Rigondeaux will be training under Jorge Rubio to get ready for the fight.

"I have always kept in good shape waiting for the opportunity," said Rigondeaux. I've always said I'm willing to face anyone, anywhere. A champion is not hiding. At least as a champion."
