| Guillermo Jones' Tuneup Request Rejected By The WBA
|
|
By Hilmar Rojas The WBA's world championship committee has voted against granting permission to cruiserweight champion Guillermo Jones, who placed in a request to take a ten round bout at heavyweight. The Organization is placing a lot of pressure on Jones to finalize a deal with interim-champion, Denis Lebedev, by June 29th or a purse bid will be scheduled. Jones has a record of 38 wins, 30 by KO, 3 losses and 2 draws, and won his belt in September 2008 and since then has only made two mandatory defenses and his last was in October 2010. For his part, Lebedev has a record of 24 wins, 18 by KO, with a single setback. Tags: Denis Lebedev , Guillermo Jones |

This should actually be a hell of a bout - 2 very tough, heavy-handed fighters & a loss for either at this point in their career's would likely put them out of the running for the big money fights happening in cruiser.
As for Guillermo Jones, I do not understand what the guy's problem is...

Jones a waste of talent, rarely in shape....but still a natural. he doesnt need a tuneup and hopefully they can get him to fight Lebedev that is pretty interesting. |
