Guillermo Jones Stops Marrone in Six, Retains WBA Title

By Phillip Michael

Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, Hollywood, Florida - Guillermo Jones TKO6 Michael Marrone - Fight was a rout from the opening bell. Jones won every round as Marrone was massively overmatched, though showing tons of heart and determination. Jones launched an all-out assualt in the 6th round to eventually force referee stoppage.

Joey Hernandez UD12 Elco Garcia - Highway robbery that left the sold out crowd of 5,037 in disgust as Hernandez was awarded a hometown decision over upset minded Garcia. The two traded knockdowns in the first two rounds, with Garcia appearing to assume control from that point onward. Some in press row had it as much as a six-point victory for Garcia, but the judges instead saw it for the house fighter, all three scoring it 114-112.

Juan Ubaldo Cabrera W8 Stephen Scott - Cabrera dominated in pitching a shutout, bullying Scott along the ropes and beating his body like a drum. Scores were 80-72 across the board

Junior welterweight Angelo “The Cobra” Santana (12-0, 9 KOs) stopped Broderick Antoine (11-12-1, 5 KOs) in the first round. Santana battered him with punches until Antoine's corner jumped in to wave it off at the end.

Light heavyweight Gusmyr Perdomo (18-3, 11KOs) won an eight round unanimous decision over Lafarrell Bunting (18-4-1, 17KOs). Bunting lost a point in round seven for holding. The scores were 79-72, 79-72 and 80-71.
