As previously reported, the World Boxing Association (WBA) made a decision last week to strip and suspend cruiserweight champion Guillermo Jones (39-3-2, 31KOs) for testing positive for a diuretic after his May knockout victory over Denis Lebdev (25-2, 19KOs) in Moscow, Russia.
Jones was first stripped of the title last year and made the "champion in recess." The WBA made Lebedev the full champion and ordered him to face Jones. That fight happened in May and Jones gave Lebedev a beating before finishing the Russian boxer off in the eleventh.
Now the WBA has stripped Jones for a second time and once again made Lebedev the full champion, and once again ordered the two of them to fight each other.
Jones has no problem with their decision and plans to punish Lebedev again.
"[The WBA is] doing me a favor. All I want to do is fight and they are [providing me with one]. They made their decision in Peru [to strip me] and I'm relaxed....and do you know why - because [this same scenario] already happened. Remember when I was named 'champion in recess' for a while and they gave the belt to Lebedev....and then what happened?, I beat him, I regained what was mine, and this time will be no different," Jones said.
