WBA cruiserweight champion Guillermo Jones may have withdrawn from a planned defense this coming Saturday with unbeaten Ryan Coyne, but he already has another fight lined up. The champion will make his mandatory defense against interim-beltholder Yoan Pablo Hernandez. Jones injured his back in training and because of that he withdrew from the bout with Coyne. Jones was told to take medication and to relax for at least three weeks.

"I cried because I knew I was not going to defend my title until fall. It was a good fight to show what I have," said Jones. "I was told the date of [the Hernandez fight] is August 27 in Germany."

Jones has a record of 37-3-2 with 29 knockouts, while Hernandez has a record of 24-1-13 knockouts.
