Groves To Froch: Nottingham Not Big Enough For Fight

George Groves says Nottingham is just not big enough to house his rematch with Carl Froch.

The bitter super-middleweight rivals will meet again live on Sky Sports Box Office on May 31, following their controversial first fight last November.

Froch, who's WBA and IBF world titles are on the line again, has claimed that Nottingham Forest's City Ground is leading the way when it comes to hosting the second showdown.

All the talk has been of a stadium in London or Manchester but Groves says that a stadium that holds 30,000 (sitting) is not big enough.

"The Sheriff of Nottingham - Carl Froch - has been tweeting telling us we all have to go to Nottingham but I don't believe it," he told Sky Sports News.

"Eddie Hearn says this is the biggest fight in British boxing history so Nottingham just isn't big enough - and it definitely needs something bigger."

Groves is a Chelsea fan but would rather fight at the national rugby stadium than a Championship football ground.

But even if he had to hand home advantage to Froch, he is still adamant he will win the rematch.

"Twickenham is down the road from me and it holds 80,000," he said.

"I am not pushing too hard for Twickenham but if there is a place people would rather go to, I am sure they would rather go there than Nottingham.

"But it doesn't matter because I will beat him in his own backyward if I have to."
Not a conclusion per say just an opinion, in fairness to Froch he's not usually fussed where he fights, he is a warrior. So why is he so vocal about it for this fight? It's the first time in his pro career he's been so hurt and has a domestic crowd not necessarily on his ...
Why did you come to that conclusion? Because the champion wants to fight at home?
Not a conclusion per say just an opinion, in fairness to Froch he's not usually fussed where he fights, he is a warrior. So why is he so vocal about it for this fight? It's the first ti...
He is right. Why on earth would Froch want to fight in his home-town when no venue can bring anywhere near the maximum level of paying customers to line his pockets???? Carl's a little nervy about this one deep down.
Why did you come to that conclusion? Because...
