Groves Feels The Time is Right To Fight Carl Froch

George Groves has dismissed suggestions that his world title bout with Carl Froch has come too early in his career. The 25-year-old will fight fellow Englishman Froch for his IBF and WBA super middleweight titles in either late November or early December.

Groves is unbeaten in 19 bouts, winning 15 by knockout, and he believes the time is right for him to fight for a world title. The London boxer told Sky Sports News: "Look at the good world champions, past and present. They usually challenge for a world title around the 20-bout mark.

Froch was critical of Groves when he sparred with Mikkel Kessler prior to their rematch last May, but Groves believes he did Froch a favour.

"The only person whose nose was bent out of shape was Carl," said Groves. "You've got to go out and do what's right for you. I actually did Carl a favour because I went out and softened Kessler up. Before their first fight I sparred with Carl and maybe I softened him up, because Kessler won that fight. There was no better sparring partner for me at the time. Mikkel wanted me out there for sparring and we did a few rounds."
