DARREN BARKER is on a mission to become the Ricky Hatton of the south with the help of Chelsea stars and Modfather Paul Weller.
Former two-weight world champion Ricky Hatton was a big draw in Manchester and his association with his favourite club, Manchester City, helped to swell his fanbase.
Middleweight Darren Barker, 29 who fights Domenico Spada, also 29, at Olympia on Saturday night for the European belt, said: Frank Lampard is coming to my fight and Paul Weller, who I met after a gig at the Albert Hall, wants to support me too.
George Groves says he will break down James DeGale - before they even get in the ring.
The pair meet in a British and Commonwealth super-middleweight showdown on May 21 at the O2 Arena, London.
And the war of words between the two shows no sign of slowing down.
Over the weekend, Groves claimed that he is winning the psychological battle ahead of the fight.
"As long as I keep my head, do what I'm doing in the gym, then it will be an easy night's work and people will be signing my praises after," Groves told Sky Sports.
"This fight is as much mental as it is physical. I'm winning the mental battle, by the time we get in the ring he will be destroyed, and then I've got to get in there and take him apart."Tags: James DeGale , George Groves , DeGale vs Groves , DeGale-Groves , Darren Barker
