Green, Cameron Make Weight and Plan For War

Australian boxing veteran Danny Green and his Kiwi rival Shane Cameron have both made the weight for their title fight in Melbourne on Wednesday night.

While Australian veteran Danny Green says he still has the hunger to fight, Kiwi boxer Shane Cameron is just plain hungry.

The pair will do battle for the vacant IBO cruiserweight title at Melbourne's Hisense Arena on Wednesday night.

Dubbed the Mountain Warrior, Cameron successfully stripped eight kilograms from his natural heavyweight frame in time for Tuesday's weigh-in at Crown Casino.

Cameron had to make a catch-weight of 89kg [196] set by Green's camp rather than the standard cruiserweight of 90.7 [200-pounds].

He has previously fought at 108kg [238].

West Australian Green, who is gunning for his fourth world title, easily made the mark.

"I had some pancakes before I came here," Green said.

"I had some orange juice, coffee, a couple of bananas - I'm pretty cool."

Green said it was an advantage to fuel up during preparation, but that was gone as soon as they stepped into the ring.

"The advantage is going to be on his side tomorrow night when the bell goes because this is as heavy as I'm going to get.

"He's going to fuel up and probably get 10 kilos heavier so let's see what you've got big boy."

Cameron, who said he spent hours in a hot bath to sweat out the final kilograms, didn't plan to go "too crazy" over food in the next 24 hours.

"I'll eat what I feel like and get some fluids," he said.

Green held the title until last year when he was soundly beaten by American Antonio Tarver, who was later stripped after testing positive to steroids.

Green said he didn't consider the title should already be his to defend.

"I don't think about that. I lost the world title when, unfortunately, I was beaten on the night," he said.

"He's been subsequently stripped and he's got to live with that."

It's been tipped the 39-year-old Green could return for a second time after the fight against Cameron.

But Green said he had yet to make a decision on his future.

"I do still have the same hunger," he said.

"I'm still motivated to win and to have that belt wrapped back around my waist would mean a lot."
