Now ranked at number six by both the WBC and the WBA, Adrian Granados is still enjoying his impressive stoppage victory over previously undefeated Amir Imam, but is already back in the gym preparing for something big next year.

"I'm staying in shape, I’m on my way now to see my strength and conditioning coach," Granados told BoxingScene.com via telephone.

“I kind of needed that type of fight because I am one to be a normal guy and enjoy the victories.  But this one I was so excited, with the names they were dropping on me I decided to go straight back into the gym!  It’s been nothing but love since I got home, even the boxing commission came to see me which never happens.  I can’t wait for the next adventure to come my way.”

If Granados were to pursue the WBC route, he would have to eventually face the champion which is currently Viktor Postol who stopped Lucas Matthysse in ten rounds in October.

“He’s a great fighter, he has an amateur background and he uses his reach very well.  He seems like a very difficult fighter.  If I get that title shot I have a very difficult task at hand, but that’s something I’m used to.  I’m used to being the underdog.”

Another intriguing match-up in the junior welterweight division is Adrien Broner’s defence of his WBA title against London’s Ashley Theophane which is scheduled to take place next month, according to reports.

“I haven’t seen too much of Ashley Theophane but I’ve heard good things,” Adrian admitted.

“I know he’s part of Team Mayweather as well, I’ll definitely be looking out.  I have trained with Adrien Broner so I know him personally.  He’s a tough fighter and he trains hard.  It should be good and I’m just happy to be mentioned with fighters at this level now, and that’s where I plan to stay.”
