| Goossen Working To Finalize Andre Ward vs. Kelly Pavlik

By Robert Morales Andre Ward (26-0, 14KOs) defended his super middleweight title on Sept. 8 with a 10th-round TKO of Chad Dawson. His next opponent is likely to be former middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik (40-2, 34KOs). Dan Goossen confirmed he is still working on putting that fight together for Ward's next defense. "We're trying to finalize a bout with Kelly Pavlik," Goossen said to BoxingScene.com. "One of the key dates on HBO and all of TV is Jan. 26. I know there has been some mention of February, but that's the time period we're looking at right now. "We don't have a site done yet. I'm going to get Pavlik finalized and I believe that we will. I was hopeful in Pavlik's return, but the truth is he didn't look good enough in his last couple of fights to step in there with the best. He's just not the same guy he was before the B-hop fight. Wish him the best though. |

Welp looks like this comeback train will be derailed sooner than I expected. I also expected it to get derailed by someone else (Rodriguez or Chavez), not Ward. |

I'll bet money issues will stall this fight. I remember that stunt Pavlik did last year bt waiting until the last minute by pulling out of a fight. |
