Dan Goossen promotes heavyweight contender Chris Arreola (34-2, 29 KOs), who has won six consecutive fights since losing a majority decision to Tomasz Adamek in April 2010. In his most recent bout, on Nov. 5 in Mexico, Arreola stopped Raphael Butler in the third round.
Goossen said he is looking to get Arreola back in the ring by January, February at the latest. Then he wants to get Arreola another title shot.
"I believe he will be fighting for the title definitely in 2012 and, hopefully, within the next few months," Goossen said.
Goossen said no real talks are actually in the works in that regard, but, "He's No. 1 in the WBC, so ..."
Vitali Klitschko is the WBC champion. He stopped Arreola after 10 rounds in September 2009 in Arreola's only world title shot.
