Golovkin's Trainer Ranks Him Behind Hopkins, Robinson

By Edward Chaykovsky

Trainer Abel Sanchez has a very high opinion of his feared middleweight, IBO/WBA champion Gennady Golovkin (29-0, 26KOs). He views Golovkin as being the best middleweight boxer in the history of the division, behind Sugar Ray Robinson and Bernard Hopkins.

For his statement to hold some worth, he says Golovkin must continue to be impressive against the upper tier boxers in his weight division. Golovikn faces his stiffest test on July 26th, when he takes on two-time middleweight champion Daniel Geale (30-2, 16KOs) at New York's Madison Square Garden.

"Ranking him behind the two people that you just mentioned, we hope to get the kind of fights that would showcase him to prove that statement that I made.  He definitely needs to fight Daniel in the same manner as some of the past opponents," Sanchez said.

"But Danny possesses the ability to go twelve rounds and I think that is going to be the big issue – to see if he can control a man and dominate a man that is used to going twelve rounds.  For Daniel to go to Germany to win those two world titles says a lot about Daniel and we’ve got a fight on our hands to propel him to that level that I told you about."
Hopkins' 20 weak defenses against mediocre fighters, the kind GGG is currently destroying.
I think Triple G would destroy Hopkins if there was VADA blood testing for the fight... Too bad Tito or Oscar didn't demand random blood testing for their fights...
Lol. Triple Duck wouldn't see the 7th round...
