It was announced on Friday that unified middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (35-0, 32KOs) will be taking on IBF welterweight belt-holder Kell Brook (36-0, 25KOs) on September 10th from the O2 Arena in London, England.

Looking ahead, if Golovkin dispatches Brook as expected, what are the chances of him facing the likes of Danny Jacobs (who holds the 'regular' version of the WBA middleweight title) later this year?

"I think Jacobs (31-1, 28KOs) would be a great fight he's coming off a great win versus Peter Quillin, if we can make that fight in the future that would be a great fight as well. And if we can make it for Madison Square Garden - Gennady has sold-out the Garden - and Jacobs is from New York and that would be a huge promotion," said Tom Loeffler, the managing director of K2 Promotions, to BoxingScene.com.

"But right now Gennady is focused on Brook, it's my job to look forward and Gennady said he wants to fight three times this year. So if everything goes well for him I'll be planning November, December for his next fight."

Golovkin is the WBA 'super' champion at 160 and their president Gilberto Mendoza has stated that he would work to enforce this fight, which in essence would be a mandatory. When asked if he was communicating with him, Loeffler answered - "I always keep close contact with all the sanctioning bodies and when the mandatories are due and everything of that nature. The WBC mandatory will be coming up at some point, as well.

"So I always want to make sure I'm aware of all the mandatories so there's no surprises that come up. So I'm in regular contact with the WBA."
