Abel Sanchez, trainer of WBC/WBA/IBF/IBO middleweight world champion Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin (35-0, 32KOs), would love to get his fighter in the ring with WBA 'regular' champion Daniel Jacobs (31-1, 28KOs). Golovkin is the WBA's 'super champion' at the weight.

Jacobs was last seen blowing out undefeated Peter Quillin in the first round last December at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. He is expected to return to the ring, at the same venue, on July 30th potentially in a fight with Sergio Mora.

Golovkin was in action last month and knocked out his mandatory challenger Dominic Wade in two rounds. He is expected to return in September.

Jacobs was calling for the fight with Golovkin for some time. According to Sanchez, Jacobs is no longer mentioning Golovkin in any manner.

The World Boxing Association is potentially going to order that fight in the near future.  The sanctioning body is currently focused on eliminating the scenario of multiple champions at the weight and in recent months they have been ordering their 'regular' and 'super' champions to fight each other.

Sanchez would love to have that fight take place on the East Coast, where he believes the contest would be a huge hit at Barclays or Madison Square Garden.

"That would be a great fight, but it’s interesting that the WBA would say that [they are going to order the fight] when Danny hasn’t been very vocal about anything. I don’t think he’s mentioned Gennady’s name in the last three or four months, or even since he knocked out Quillin. It would be interesting if that’s the fight Danny and his people want to take," Sanchez told On The Ropes Boxing Radio.

"I think that fight in Brooklyn at the Barclay’s Center, or even at The Garden, would be tremendous. It would be a huge fight not only because of Golovkin but because of Danny’s story, being a cancer survivor, coming back from the defeat of Pirog. I think it’s a great story and it could be a huge promotion on the East Coast."
