For the time being, IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (36-0, 33KOs) is scheduled to fight on December 10th.

But with that said, as the mid-point of October approaches, Golovkin will be making his way up the mountain to Big Bear, California to resume his training with Abel Sanchez at the Summit Gym.

"He's supposed to be coming into camp not this weekend but next weekend," said the veteran trainer to BoxingScene.com on Friday night at the Sportsman's Lodge in Studio City where he attended the Top Rank card.

"In fact, he talked to (Murat) Gassiev yesterday and he said he wants to get started regardless of what happens. So I expect him either this Thursday, Friday or Saturday and we'll start working and hopefully something will get ironed out. If not, he'll be in camp ready."

Regardless of who he's paired with, Sanchez expects his best known client to come into camp focused.

"He's a pro and once we get him into the gym and we start working the conditioning and then we schedule the sparring, as long as I know if it's right-handed or left-handed ( that we're facing), we'll be ready. Again, he's a pro, I'm sure he'll be 170-pounds when he comes into and we'll be woking," said Sanchez, who's daily schedule is filled with a roster of well-known fighters.

"(Gennady's) biggest issue, I think, is making sure he gets into camp early enough. He's very adamant, very meticulous about that."

The negotiations are ongoing for the Golovkin-Jacobs encounter. A few days ago the WBA rejected Jacobs' request to modify the financial terms of the purse split. The monetary terms are 75-25 in Golovkin's favor. Jacobs was looking a 60-40 split. Unless a deal is reached, the sanctioning body is expected to order the purse bid in the coming days.
