WBA/IBF/IBO/WBC middleweight champion Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin (36-0, 33KOs) has a lot of options out there, according to his promoter Tom Loeffler of K2 Promotions.

Loeffler is working out the details with Jacobs' adviser, Al Haymon, for a fight in early 2017. The World Boxing Association ordered Golovkin and Jacobs to face each other. Jacobs is the WBA's 'regular' champion in the middleweight division.

The fight was targeted for December 10th in New York City. They were unable to reach a timely agreement and pushed everything back to next year.

Loeffler is hoping to get a deal done as soon as possible, so he could make an official announcement in the near future.

"We're just working out the details with Al Haymon and we're trying to make a deal that's fair for both guys. As soon as we finalize everything we hope to have an announcement," Loeffler told IFL TV.

The fight that everyone wants to see is a showdown between Golovkin and Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez, which is being negotiated for September 2017.

"We would have liked to do it this year. We're shooting for September 2017. That’s a huge fight. From a pay-per-view standpoint, it’s probably the biggest fight right now. We’re working on trying to make that fight," Loeffler said.

If Golovkin overcomes Jacobs, Loeffler will examine a lot of options that are out there - including Canelo, a catch-weight bout with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., the winner of the super middleweight unification between James DeGale and Badou Jack, and a bout with WBO 168-pound champion Gilberto Ramirez.

"Right now the good thing is there’s a lot of options for Triple G, a lot of great options. He’s got to beat Danny Jacobs first. Gennady is clearly the top middleweight. Danny Jacobs is the number tow middleweight. So if he can overcome [Jacobs], there’s a lot of great options out there for Gennady.... whether it’s Canelo, Chavez is talking about fighting now. DeGale against Badou Jack is a good fight. Ramirez is talking about fighting him now," Loeffler siad.

"It looks like finally some of the doors are opening where some of the big names are actually not only talking about fighting him, but actually getting in the ring with him and that's all that we can hope for is having someone who not only talks about Triple G but will actually fight him."
