WBA/IBO middleweight champion Gennady "GGG" Golovkin (33-0, 30KOs) is ready for all comers after knocking out Willie Monroe in six rounds on Saturday night at The Forum in Los Angeles.
At the post fight press conference, Golovkin was asked if he was still interested in dropping down to junior middleweight face WBC/WBA junior middleweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (48-0, 26KOs), who also holds the WBC/WBA/WBO titles at 147-pounds.
Golovkin would be ready to face Mayweather on his planned return date of September 12th - although it's unlikely the fight will ever happen.
"I'm ready for anybody, this is big fight. I'm ready," Golovkin said. "This is business, this is business, show me a contract."
Trainer Abel Sanchez also said that Golovkin could, and would, make 154 for Mayweather.
"Only for Floyd. There is no reason to go to 154 for anybody [else]. Canelo has not made 154 in a couple fights and I'm sure that he'll be moving to 160. But for Floyd, most definitely," Sanchez said.
A more likely opponent for Golovkin is the winner of the June 20th IBF title fight between Hassan N'dam and David Lemieux, or WBO champion Andy Lee.
