According to promoter Lou DiBella, discussions are going forward in a very positive manner, and a deal is likely, for IBO super middleweight champion Thomas Oosthuizen (21-0, 13 KOs) to face Brandon Gonzalez (17-0, 10 KOs) on June 29th as part of an HBO televised tripleheader. The main event would feature a middleweight fight between WBA/IBO middleweight king Gennady Golovkin (26-0, 23 KOs) and Matthew Macklin (29-4, 20 KOs).

DiBella is working out the final Golovkin-Macklin details, and he appears confident a deal will get finalized as discussions continue with Tom Loeffler of K2 Promotions. The third fight will feature junior middleweight contender Willie Nelson (20-1-1, 12 KOs). DiBella is having trouble securing an opponent for Nelson and tells BoxingScene.com that several top contenders have already turned the opportunity down.

This isn't that great a fight. Tommy's pretty much still treading water. He's at the top of the 2nd tier of contenders at 168, but he's miles behind the top 5. This isn't going to help. He's been fighting nothing but fringe contenders and gatekeepers- most of them either overrated or not that...

This is turning out to be a great card providing that all the fights get made. Ggg vs macklin will be awesome but I'm really interested in the Gonzalez oosthizuen fight. Maybe the winner can fight George groves to set up a fight against froch or one of the other champions

[QUOTE=mathed]Just three days ago it was certain that Macklin was ducking and dodging like no other........what happened from then till now? More than a few posters were absolutely sure Macklin would rather jump off a cliff than jump in the ring with the destroyer of men. Maybe Macklin read t...
