INGLEWOOD, Calif. - Gennady Golovkin stopped Willie Monroe Jr. scored three knockdowns before securing a sixth round knockout to retain his WBA/IBO middleweight titles and his 20th consecutive knockout victory. Golovkin (33-0, 30 KOs) dropped Monroe twice in the second round and again in the sixth round. After rising up in the sixth, Monroe indicated to the referee that he had enough, as a Southern California crowd of 12,372 cheered on the win.

Afterwards, Golovkin called out Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez and WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto, who defends his belt against Daniel Geale next month at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

"I respect Miguel Cotto. After his fight, I'll wait. I'm ready right now to fight Miguel Cotto and Canelo Alvarez. I respect them," Golovkin said.
