Golden Boy Promotions Vice President Eric Gomez is confident that IBF welterweight champion Shawn Porter will defend his title against mandatory challenger Kell Brook of the UK. Porter (24-0-1, 15 KOs) and Brook (32-0, 22 KOs) had a tentative date of August 9th at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. That date is now off and a new date is being finalized. 140-pound champions Danny Garcia and Lamont Peterson have taken over the 8/9 Barclays date.

On Monday, there had been some confusion when Porter's father and trainer, Kenny Porter, claimed Brook had yet to sign his contract and had doubts as to Brook's intentions to move forward with the contest. Brook's promoter, Eddie Hearn of Matchroom, would later confirm to BoxingScene that his fghter already signed the bout agreement and the contract was received by Golden Boy.

"They are going to fight each other, and it's going to take place in the next few months. There were some issues that came up, but it's pretty much done. They have to fight each other it's a mandatory fight," Gomez told BoxingScene.com.
