Earlier today, BoxingScene.com reported that Bruce Binkow is no longer employed by Golden Boy Promotions. Binkow joined Golden Boy in 2007 as Chief Marketing Officer and became the Chief Operating Officer in 2013.
Binkow is the second major departure from the company this month. On June 2nd, company CEO Richard Schaefer officially announced that he was leaving Golden Boy after ten years of employment.
Schaefer and company President Oscar De La Hoya parted ways after internally, and publicly, disagreeing over Golden Boy's direction. Beyond the confirmation of his departure, Binkow would not discuss the details which led to his break from Golden Boy.
However, BoxingScene received as statement from Stefan Friedman, spokesman for Golden Boy, regarding Binkow's departure.
"Golden Boy Promotions is solely focused on one goal - giving fans the fights they want to see. We are fully aware that some might have different aspirations, and we wish them well in their new endeavors. As for us, we will not relent until boxing's Cold War is over and all promoters leave their egos at the door in favor of putting fans first."
