There has been some chatter about fights such as Manny Pacquiao versus Lucas Matthysse and a lightweight match-up between WBA titlist Jorge Linares (44-3, 27 KOs) and Vasyl Lomachenko (10-1, 8 KOs).
Those potential pairings are ones that involve boxers represented by Golden Boy Promotions and Top Rank.
But for the time being there has been no contact between the two sides in regards to those bouts.
Bob Arum, the CEO of Top Rank, seemed very eager to make the Lomachenko vs. Linares matchup.
Lomachenko, who currently holds the WBO super featherweight title, is going to make his lightweight debut on a date in April.
However, Gomez indicates that Arum never contacted his office to discuss that contest.
"No, not at all," said Eric Gomez, the president of Golden Boy, to BoxingScene.com.
"They have not contacted us, at all. They haven't contacted us on Linares. I think it's a lot of lip service. I'm being told that they're waiting for the winner of (Ray) Beltran-(Paulus) Moses. I think despite Lomachenko calling Linares out on the social networks, his opponent is already pre-determined because they haven't made any overtures."
Beltran-Moses is scheduled for next week and is being contested for the vacant WBO lightweight belt. Beltran, like Lomachenko is represented by Top Rank.
Gomez does acknowledge that Arum called Linares' co-promoter Akihiko Honda of Japan - but the CEO of Teiken Promotions told Arum to call Golden Boy.
"They did speak to Mr. Honda. Mr. Honda told them to call us, they never did," stated Gomez.
"I think it's all lip service. Lomachenko already has an opponent, it's already been pre-determined and they're just trying to get a little more promotion out of using Linares' name."
In the meantime, Gomez says he'll be waiting for Bob Arum to give him a call.
"Actions speak louder than words," he says.
