WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch believes his opponent on Saturday, Glen Johnson, is struggling to make the division limit of 168-pounds. Johnson has been fighting at light heavyweight for several years, but recently moved down, at age 42, to the super middleweight division for the sole purpose of entering the Super Six tournament. Saturday's fight in Atlantic City is a semi-final bout in the Super Six tourney.

Showtime cleared a major hurdle last month after the completion of Andre Ward’s dominant Super Six semifinal win over Arthur Abraham. Sure there were pre-fight talks of Abraham’s camps whining about officials, but the two combatants showed up as scheduled when all was said and done, paving the way for an eventual finale later this year. With that win out of the way, Ward now awaits the winner of this weekend’s showdown between Carl Froch and Glen Johnson, which airs live on Showtime from the Adrian Phillip Ballroom at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City. While Ward awaits the winner, fans breathlessly await what on paper figures to be the most exciting of all of the Super Six matchups to date. The added bonus is that at stake is a spot in the Super Six finals, one that has picked up steam now that the tournament is back in full flow. On the bracket front, it’s not the only good piece of news to come from America’s #1 Boxing Network in recent days. Late last week, it was confirmed that the Showtime Bantamweight Tournament now has a penciled-in date for its delayed finale, as undefeated Abner Mares and defending two-time titlist Joseph King Kong Agbeko are set to square off on August 13 at a site to be determined.

Former light heavyweight world champion Antonio Tarver is backing WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch to beat Glen Johnson in the semi-finals of the Super Six tournament on Saturday night in Atlantic City. Tarver fought Johnson twice, going 1-1 with the 42-year-old veteran. Tarver believes Froch has the much better ability and the inner determination to win. He doesn't pick Froch to beat Andre Ward in the final bout of the Super Six, but he does give him a very good chance of getting the upset.
Glen “The Road Warrior” Johnson is inspired by the recent victory by Bernard Hopkins, who at 46-years-old defeated Jean Pascal to capture the WBC light heavyweight title. This Saturday in Atlantic City, Johnson, 42-years-old, will challenger World Boxing Council (WBC) super middleweight Champion Carl “The Cobra” Froch in the Super Six semi-finals. The winner of Froch (27-1, 20 KOs) vs. Johnson (51-14-2, 35 KOs) will advance to the tournament final to face World Boxing Association (WBA) champion Andre Ward.
