Ricky Mota, manager of WBA junior flyweight world champion Giovanni Segura, and Peter Rivera of Puerto Rico Best Boxing, promoter of former world champion Ivan Calderon, reached an agreement to stage a Segura-Calderon rematch on the tentative date of April 23 in Puerto Rico, the location of the first meeting. Segura stopped Calderon back in August, handing the Puerto Rican fighter the first loss of his pro career.

The rematch is almost certain, as Ricky Mota says a few minor details are missing before the signnatures are put on paper. The rematch is conditional and only moves forward if Segura successfully defends his title on November 27 in Tijuana, Mexico, against an opponent being finalized by Zanfer Promotions

"Giovanni Segura says he has no problem to meet Calderon again in his backyard (Puerto Rico) because he's sure to repeat the same result," Motta said.

After Calderon, Segura wants to go toe to toe with Roman "Chocolatito" Gonzalez, who is now the interim-champion at the weight. Segura is the WBA's super champion at the weight. Gonzalez recently called out Segura.

"I'm ready for the rematch, and if Roman Gonzalez thinks he has the size to go against me, I have no problem, because a Mexican doesn't back away from anyone," Segura said.

This will be a great fight. Anybody who says otherwise is shameless.
