WBA and IBO middleweight champion Gennady "GGG" Golovkin (33-0, 30KOs) will take his first pay-per-view step on Saturday night, when he faces IBF champion David Lemieux (34-3, 31KOs) in the main event of a four fight HBO PPV card from a sold out Madison Square Garden in New York City.

The two biggest stars are leaving the building and Golovkin wants to be the guy to take the torch. A successful pay-per-view would go a long way in establishing that position.

Last month, the number one fighter in the sport - Floyd Mayweather Jr. - announced his retirement after winning a twelve round decision over Andre Berto. He might potentially come back in 2016 to chase his 50th win.

The second biggest start in boxing, Manny Pacquiao, filed his paperwork for a senate seat on Friday and next year he plans to pursue his political career on a full-time basis. He plans to have one more fight in 106 before announcing his retirement.

Golovkin wants to continue his busy schedule with at least three to four fights per year.

"Floyd and Manny are finished. This is yesterday. I bring a new tactic. Like 'old school,' a fight, not dancing. Not just business. Like long time ago, you remember Hagler, Hearns, Leonard, great fighters. Right now, I bring new story," Golovkin said.
