With his father and Muay Thai specialist Anecito Gesta by his side, undefeated Mercito “No Mercy” Gesta is “training better than ever” according to his co-manager and trainer Vince Parra.

Gesta has been sparring with four different opponents including 29 year old featherweight Aaron Garcia and hard-hitting undefeated light welterweight prospect Adrian Vargas.

Parra said Gesta will see action on the April 14 undercard of Brandon “Bam Bam” Rios and Yuriorkis Gamboa for the vacant WBA world lightweight title at the Mandalay Bay Resort Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas..

Gesta will battle Mexican Luis “El Vampiro” Arceo in a ten round bout. The 33 year old Arceo  has a record of 24-11 with 16 knockouts and should provide a good tune-up fight according to Parra for a possible world title shot later this year.

Arceo is coming off a big win last February 25 when he scored a stunning n8th round knockout over Misael Castillo who had an impressive ring record of 21-1 with 19 knockouts.

Arceo held Hector Velasquez who lost by an 8th round TKO to pound for pound king Manny Pacquiao to a majority draw on September 10, 2011 but earlier dropped a ten round split decision to Ricardo Dominguez on March 19, 2011. Dominguez lost a ten round unanimous decision to Gesta on November 11, 2011.

The 24 year old southpaw Gesta is undefeated with a record of 24-0-1 with 12 knockouts and is regarded as a top prospect by promoter Bob Arum.
