Less than a week ago, BoxingScene.com's Jake Donovan reported that the World Boxing Association approved a request for WBA super featherweight world champion Jason Sosa to make a voluntary defense against unbeaten Gervonta 'Tank' Davis.

The bout was tentatively slated to take place on October 22, and possibly part of a Premier Boxing Champions on NBC broadcast.

But now there appears to be some trouble, with Davis going to social media and voicing his frustrations about some tension with his promoter, former five division world champion Floyd Mayweather Jr.

According to Davis (16-0, 15KOs), Mayweather wanted him to leave his residence of Baltimore, Maryland and move to Las Vegas - where Mayweather and his promotional company is based. Davis declined.

He says Mayweather has now placed him on the shelf until further notice.

"I'm giving up on a lot of things and boxing might be one of them. Y'all don't know what I been going through these few weeks. Sh*t too much! Floyd sit me on the shelf," Davis wrote.

"Move from the place that got me where I'm at today. That's what's wrong wit most that lose. They leave their home. I have a mom to feed...what about that? I have brothers, coaches, love ones! My city love me and it will never change."

Back in June, Sosa (19-1-4, 15KOs) pulled off a big upset when he came off the floor to stop Javier Fortuna in the eleventh round to capture the WBA belt in Beijing, China.

The WBA had been calling for Sosa to face WBA "Super" 130 lb. champ Jezreel Corrales - before the voluntary request was approved.  If the fight with Davis falls out, it's likely the sanctioning body will resume their efforts to have both champions face each other.
