BoxingScene.com understands that British super middleweight George Groves is expected to sign with German based promotional outfit, Sauerland Event, with an announcement expected tomorrow.

Groves 19-1 (15), who has previously been promoted by Eddie Hearn and Frank Warren, is currently in training for his much anticipated rematch with bitter rival Carl Froch 32-2 (23) for his IBF and WBA titles which will take place in front of an expected 80,000 people on May 31 at Wembley Stadium.

Sauerland who are no strangers to signing up British talent having snapped up Liverpool heavyweight, David Price, last year, announced on Twitter around 9pm (GMT) ‘MASSIVE announcement here on @twitter tomorrow at 10am UK time. Do not miss it.’ Price, himself, followed that up with ‘Tell you what @SauerlandBros weren’t joking about that announcement tomorrow. MASSIVE.’

Current British super middleweight champion, Paul Smith 35-3 (20) is currently working with Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn to tie up a fight that would see him face Arthur Abraham 40-4 (28) for his WBO title in Sept/Oct. Could we see Groves, win lose or draw against Froch in with the winner of Abraham and Smith next year?

Former world champion Mikkel Kessler 46-3 (35), also promoted by Sauerland, signalled his intentions recently when he announced he would not be retiring from boxing. With Matchroom having Froch, James DeGale 18-1 (12) and outstanding prospect, Callum Smith 11-0 (9) in their stable and their German counterparts having Abraham, Kessler and now Groves we may be about to see some more explosive clashes at 168lbs over the next 12-18 months.
