George Groves Breaks Down Haye's Loss To Klitschko

By Terence Dooley

George Groves gave his thoughts on David Haye’s decision loss to Wladimir Klitschko earlier today, telling Sky Sports News that the better man beat ‘The Hayemaker’ on the night.  Groves believes that the 30-year-old gave ‘Dr. Steelhammer’ a “tough test” in Hamburg and stated that he would like to see Haye box again.

“I think David was up against it.  Although he had made bold claims before the fight he got everyone excited and took us on a great journey.  It was the best Wladimir Klitschko has boxed for a long time and David was really up against it.  He looked like he shook him a few times but couldn’t get near him because Wlad was just too good,” mused the 13-0 (10) 168lb contender.

“Wlad was always able to either escape the first attack and hold or come back himself.  When David did land Wlad looked nervous and held.  If David had followed up the second phase (of attack) it would have been a different story.”

He added: “David wants to finish boxing in October.  You have to look at who is left as an opponent, there isn’t that many left.  David will be disappointed; he looked superb in training so I’d like to see him box again.  He has a stellar career to look back on and got a lot of people excited about boxing.”
