Experienced Mexican contender Alberto "Kichis" Garza will have a tremendous opportunity tomorrow night when he faces former IBF world featherweight champion Billy Dib of Australia in a super featherweight contest over ten rounds at the Foxwoods Resort & Casino in Manshantucket, Connecticut. The card will be promoted by SMS Promotions and televised live on ESPN 2.
Garza (26-7-1-1, 21 KOs), a former world title challenger, was knocked out in rounds by World Boxing Association (WBA) 'regular' beltholder Nicholas Walters in four rounds. Dib (36-3, 21 KOs) was knocked out in nine rounds in his last fight against Russia's Evgeny Gradovich.
"Garza fought in Puerto Rico against superstar José Pedraza, and looked great. After that fight we decided to give him a chance and Universal Promotions promised to bring him to the big stage. He has before him the opportunity to stand at the gates a title shot," said promoter Javier Bustillo.
