| Gary Russell Jr. Dominates Leonilo Miranda Over Eight
|
|
By Edward Chaykovsky Beau Rivage Resort & Casino, Biloxi, Mississippi - In a featherweight bout, Gary Russell Jr. (17-0, 10KOs) won an easy one-sided eight round unanimous decision over Leonilo Miranda (32-4, 30KOs). The scores were 80-72, 80-72 and 79-72. The first round was a battle of jabs. Russell's quicker hands were landing first. Russell's faster hands continued to pepper Miranda in the second round. In the third, Miranda started trading with hard combos, but Russell was still doing better with his fast hands to push Miranda back to the ropes. Russell was landing at will as he trapped Miranda against the ropes in the fourth. Miranda got off the ropes but he was being punihsed to the head and body at close range. More damage was being caused by Russell's hard shots in the fifth. Miranda suffered a cut outside of his right eye in the sixth. Russell was toying with Miranda in the seventh round, picking his spots and landing with ease, and continued the same process in the eight. they have to start doing better than putting a hyped guy like Russell in against the ever popular "last minute replacement" |

Russell Jr is a YOUNG BEAST!
just because your a fan of other fighters does not mean you have to hate on the dude
I think Russell Jr will eventually get to that level, but I think it is extremely smart that his dad is bringing him along...SLOWLY! Fans and media people like Max Kellerman jus... |

Do not put him in with gamboa or garcia. He hasn't even fought 10 rounds. Superior skills but they need to see him respond in a tough fight or late in a fight. He has plenty of time. |

If is mangmnt/promoter gets him more fights, they're wasting his great talent, only 1 this yr, though russell is a higher weight, I don't think he can handle Rigondeaux, period.... |
