According to veteran trainer Robert Garcia, former middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. has not tried to retain his services, contrary to the rumors going around. There were some minor discussions at one point last year.
Garcia does stay in contact with Chavez. The two of them are good friends, but there are no talks, at least currently, of having Garcia work his corner.
Top Rank is trying to finalize a fight between Chavez and WBA/IBO middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin for July 19th.
"There have been no approaches for working with me, just send texts with congratulations on the wins of my fighters, and I reply, but that's all," Garcia said.
Chavez's corner is currently led coach Vladimir Baldenebro.
