Gamboa vs Ponce De Leon Possible For 9/10, Says Arum

By Lem Satterfield

Featherweight contender Yuriorkis Gamboa (20-0, 16KOs) is scheduled to return on September 10 in Atlantic City, with HBO televising. One possible candidate to face the talented Cuban is former champion Daniel Ponce De Leon (41-3, 34KOs). Ponce De Leon was last seen in February, when he lost a close ten round decision to Adrien Broner at super featherweight.

Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum, who promotes Gamboa, advised BoxingScene.com that his company has already discussed the possibility of Gamboa-Ponce De Leon with Golden Boy Promotions. Arum is trying to secure enough money from HBO to make the fight possible.

"Yes. We're considering it for Sept. 10 in Atlantic City. We've talked with Golden Boy, and they're amenable to making the fight with Ponce De Leon, now we're talking to HBO to make sure that we have the necessary funds to do the fight," Arum told BoxingScene.com.

If they can put politics aside this is a great fight and I hope it happens.

Gamboa knocks out De Leon in the 4th round if Lopez took him out in the first I still think Gamboa is better than. Lopez But styles make fights.so you never know thats what I like about boxing.
gamboa,just fight chris john already.
Gamboa can't fight a guy who's perhaps the worst champ ever, that lives and hides in his home country content on fighting nobodies and getting easy decisions.
