Tony Gonzalez, the legal adviser for Olympic gold medal winner Yuriorkis Gamboa (23-0, 16KOs) of Cuba, says his boxer is ready to drop down to 130-pounds to challenge WBO super featherweight champion Mikey Garcia (33-0, 28KOs).
After Garcia won the title from Roman Martinez a few weeks ago, he called for a fight with Gamboa. Now the Cuban fighter wants to accept.
"We've already talked with our promoter 50 Cent and that's the fight we want. Earlier, we talked about fighting 'Rocky' Martinez, but now Mikey is who we want. We are ready for the big fights now. Yuriorkis has done enough in the sport and he can be tested against the best. He won title in three different weight categories, featherweight, super featherweight and lightweight. Although we are not under the same promotional banner as Mikey, there is a very good relationship between our promoters," Gonzalez told Carlos Narvaez.
