The WBA interim-lightweight champion Yuriokris Gamboa (23-0, 16KOs) is hoping to secure a fight with Mikey Garcia (33-0, 28KOs) for either April or May. Speaking to ESPN Zone, Gamboa said Garcia is his first choice to fight. The Olympic gold medal winner has been training with Floyd Mayweather Sr. in Las Vegas. Garcia defends the WBO super featherweight title against Juan Carlos Burgos on January 25th in New York.

"My handlers are negotiating that fight. [Garcia is] my first choice and that's who I am preparing for," Gamboa said.
