Gamaliel Diaz Will Go For a KO Victory Against Miura

By Miguel Rivera

WBC super featherweight champion Gamaliel Diaz (37-9-2, 17KOs) is training to get a knockout victory in Tokyo, when he defends his title against Japanese challenger Takashi Miura (24-2-2, 18KOs) on April 8. Diaz won the belt last October in Tokyo with an upset twelve round decision over champion Takahiro Aoh. With the victory, Aoh's promoter Teiken received two options on Diaz and brought him right back to Japan.

To ensure that he returns to Mexico with the championship on his waist, he wants to avoid any possibility of the match being dropped in the hands of the judges.

“I’m training to win this fight by knockout. I feel great and I feel confidant, and I’m not afraid of saying this - I will win by knockout,” Gamaliel predicted.

rainer Pepe Morales stresses that Gamaliel will enter this fight even stronger and better conditioned than when he captured the title.

“Gamaliel is a man with a great sense of discipline. He knows what he wants and works hard to achieve it, he’s a great boxer,” he concluded.
