Gabe Rosado Batters Bryan Vera For KO at BKB

By Ryan Burton

Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas, NV - In the BKB main event, Gabriel Rosado defeated Bryan Vera by 5th round  knockout to win the middleweight BKB championship. Vera dropped Rosado with a flash knockdown in the third when Rosado appeared to trip on the lip where the pit and the ramp meet. Seconds later Rosado returned the favor and floored Vera who was able to rise to his feet.

Rosado kept the momentum with a huge 4th round as he landed several hard punches and began to showboat by throwing several bolo punches. Rosado caught Vera at the end of the 5th round to floor the Texan for a second and final time. Vera rose to his feet but was still staggered,  prompting Kenny Bayless to halt the fight.

Javier "Pelos" Garcia captured the BKB welterweight championship by defeating Darnell Jiles via 5th round knockout. Garcia landed the harder punches throughout the fight and finally dropped Jiles in the final round. Jiles rose to his feet but referee Russell Mora waived the fight off saying that Jiles took too much punishment.

David Estrada came on late to dominate Eddie Caminero in a fight that started off as a back and forth affair. Estrada ended up dropping Caminero three times in route to a unanimous decision victory. The final scores were 69-61 twice and 68-62.

Khurshid Abdullaev scored a knockdown at the end of the 5th and final round against Ricardo Pinell in a fight that he dominated. The final tallies read 50-44 twice and 49-45. Abdullaev trains out of the Robert Garcia Boxing Academy.

Gabe Duluc got the best of Kendo Castaneda winning a majority decision by the scores of 47-47, 49-46 and 49-46. Duluc received a standing 8 count in the 4th when his glove touched the canvas at the end of the round.

Herbert Acevedo dominated Raul Tovar, knocking him down three times in route to winning via 3rd round knockout. Tovar was outgunned from the opening bell and was stopped by a bodyshot.

In the evening's opening bout. heavyweight Julian Pollard stopped Boban Simic in the 4th round. Boban took several big shots which prompted the ref to stop  the fight.

The second fight of the night, a middleweight bout between Don Mouton and Lekan Byfield, went the full 5 rounds. Byfield won by scores of 50-45, 49-46, and 48-46. Both men were hurt on different occasions but Byfield landed the harder punches on a much more consistent basis.

tbh this guys would have had a good fight even on a ring the ropes are a pretty big part of brawls sometimes guys chill in there and take tons of blows, people can also corner their opponents there, some…

it was the way Gabe won that surprised me after the trouble he gave jcc jr...if he fights w/in himself & not as an opponent vs some "name" he can do well...

Good performance, I'm happy for Rosado. This BKB stuff is only entertaining to me when they got guys who are at least semi-elite.
