British/EBU heavyweight champion Tyson Fury (23-0, 17KOs) is hoping to get unified champion Wladimir Klitschko in the ring by the fall of next year. Fury's promoter Mick Hennessy feels good about their chances in getting that opportunity.
Fury is now the mandatory challenger, under the WBO, to Klitschko. He returns on February 28th against rugged contender Christian Hammer. Klitschko is likely back on April 25th against top contender Bryant Jennings.
After their fights are done, Hennessy wants to begin negotiations for the fight.
“We’ve wanted him for a long time. But there has been no chance of getting a voluntary with him because they’ve never entertained discussions. Now he’s mandatory. We’ve got to let time run its course over the next six months, let Kitschko get the next fight out of his system and then there’s a huge fight that we are all going to be negotiating together," said Hennessy.
