Promoter Frank Warren is still holding out hope that IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch (30-2, 22KOs) will reconsider the possibility of moving up in weight to challenge WBO king Nathan Cleverly.
Froch-Cleverly is huge fight for the UK. Froch has other plans and his schedule looks full. Rematches with Mikkel Kessler and Lucian Bute will likely take him into 2014 when everything is said and done in the ring. Cleverly (25-0, 12KOs) is looking to unify his division, but first he has to contend with mandatory challenger Robin Krasniqi on March 16th.
"Next year, IBF super middleweight champ Froch is expected to get an opportunity to avenge his April 2010 loss to WBA titlist Mikkel Kessler in the UK. That’s a decent match but a far better one would be for ‘The Cobra’ to step up to 175-pounds to challenge Cleverly. My guess is he’ll swerve the challenge," said Warren.
