Froch-DeGale Eyed For February, Chavez Unlikely

By Edward Chaykovsky

Promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport is distancing his fighter, IBF/WBA 'regular' super middleweight champion Carl Froch (33-2, 24KOs), from a potential clash with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

Hearn had several discussions with Top Rank regarding the fight but they continue to have issues between Chavez, who believes he's a free agent and refuses to agree to any fight unless all of the promotional terms are satisfactory.

While the Top Rank/Chavez dispute plays out, Hearn is setting his sights on putting Froch in the ring against mandatory challenger and Olympic gold medal winner James DeGale (19-1, 13KOs).

"Carl Froch against Julio Cesar Chavez in Las Vegas now looks unlikely and we are looking for Carl to defend his WBA and IBF titles in London, probably the O2 Arena, against James DeGale in February," Hearn told Gareth Davies of The Telegraph.

[QUOTE=Skorpion;14882979]Lean towards Froch and hope he does it, but as a fan this has 'disaster' written all over it. He wont be able to get up for this fight, it is at London O2 which is DeGale's backyard and it…

And I doubt Chavez Jr-Golovkin actually sells 600k PPV, when the more popular fight, Martinez vs Chavez Jr sold 500k, and nobody knows who Golovkin is enough to pay $65 to watch him fight.
