BoxingScene can confirm that this Friday's W.Promotions Ltd. show at Liverpool's Olympia Arena has been called off.  British Super flyweight champion Paul Butler was set to headline the show and would have been supported by Stephen Smith, Callum Johnson and Joe Selkirk, amongst others, but they will now wait for new fight dates to come through.

According to Warren's compant, Butler’s Commonwealth Super-Flyweight challenge will now take place on Saturday 20th April at Wembley Arena on the multi-title extravaganza headlined by WBO World Light-Heavyweight Champion Nathan Cleverly.

The unbeaten Ellesmere Port talent will challenge Nigerian Yaqub Kareem for his Commonwealth belt alongside Liam Walsh’s WBO European Lightweight title defence (Sky Ch. 437/Virgin Ch. 546).

British champ Butler was scheduled to face Kareem on Friday 12th April at the Liverpool Olympia, but although Butler and fellow Ellesmere Port talent Matt Fagan worked hard to sell their tickets allocation of tickets for the venue, the remaining boxers’ ticket sales were extremely disappointing which resulted in the show being cancelled.

Butler will now focus on becoming a double champion on a quality-packed show that sees all-action Cleverly headline with the fifth defence of his title and puts his unbeaten record against mandatory challenger Robin Krasniqi exciting and controversial heavyweight Dereck Chisora returns to the ring in a ten-round contest; plus many more.  Unbeaten prospect Fagan will also feature on the card in four-round contest.

Boxnation is brilliant. Frank unfortunately always slowly built up his fighters and people are realising it. Heck Boxnation may even educate the British fans and they know who is good or bad.

He would run Boxnation well for the next 2/3 years then the samething would start with zero fights on that channel.

What a wanker... Frank needs to pack it in and focus on boxnation which doesn't look to be doing too well either. Carries on like this and he'll harm british boxing badly... AGAIN.

No way nobody saw this coming.....Yea right, like I said if Ricky Burns had stay with this muppet then we would never see burns-Vasquez or any other competitive fight for burns.

I think this card was set for the Olympia as opposed to the Echo Arena. Shame it got called off, but with 2 recent big fight cards in the city maybe it was always likely ticket sales would suffer a bit. Shame for Smith and Selkirk..they haven't been in the ring since June (Smith) and November ...
