Francisco Arce Announces To All: I Am Alive and Well

By Rafael Soto

Francisco "Panchito" Arce is spreading the message to family, friends and his fans in boxing - he's in good health and doing well. On Monday in Culiacan, during a soccer game, a man was killed with not only the same name, but the same nickname of "Panchito", which created confusion and concern among family and friends, who made numerous phone calls to gain information about his health.

Shocked by the chaos and concern which was generated by this murder, Arce wanted to make a public clarification to avoid any misunderstandings.

"The shock began when I was called by several friends. I immediately called my wife and my parents to reassure them and tell them that I'm fine. For two days I've been in Durango and thank God I'm fine. I'm just amazed by the number of people who called me because they thought I was the one who had been murdered," said Arce.

"Panchito" is currently in Durango, where he will undergo surgery on his right eye.
