Charlie Edwards has had a brilliant maiden year as a professional and hopes to continue his success in the next 12 months.

The flyweight won the English title from previous holder Louis Norman in September and has raced to (6-0, 3 KOs) since making his debut at London’s O2 Arena in January, live on Sky Sports.

Edwards, who retained his national crown in November with a six-round stoppage of Liverpool’s Phil Smith, was recently nominated to fight Luke Wilton (16-4-1, 7 KOs) in an eliminator for the vacant British title at eight-stone, with the winner coming up against either Andrew Selby or Iain Butcher –– who are scheduled to meet in another eliminator –– for the full title later in the year.

And Boxing Scene understands that the 22-year-old, from Surrey, will return to the ring against the London-born Ulsterman on the aforementioned broadcaster’s pay-per-view format, at Manchester Arena on February 27, as part of the undercard to the super bantamweight world title unification showdown between Carl Frampton, Belfast’s IBF champion, and WBA titlist Scott Quigg of Bury.

Elsewhere on the card, Ryan Burnett, the British bantamweight titlist, and Olympic champion Luke Campbell, who was beaten for the first time as a pro in his last fight, will return.

Further details regarding the undercard of the big 122-pound showdown will be revealed later this month.
