Jan 15 - George Foreman KOs Gerry Cooney, two rounds, Atlantic City.

Feb 10 - In the greatest upset in boxing history, Buster Douglas, a 42-1 underdog, gets off the deck in the eight round, to KO Mike Tyson, 10 rounds, Tokyo, to win heavyweight title.

March 17 - Julio Cesar Chavez stops Meldrick Taylor, behind on all cards and with only two seconds left in the 12th round, Las Vegas, to unify WBC/IBF jr. welter titles.

March 31 - Terry Norris KOs John Mugabi, one round, Tampa, to win WBC jr. middleweight title.

May 19 - Pernell Whitaker defeats Azumah Nelson, 12 rounds, Las Vegas, to retain WBC/IBF light weight titles.

April 19 - Evander Holyfield defeats a game George Foreman, 12 rounds, Atlantic City, to retain heavyweight title.

July 8 - Aaron Davis KOs Mark Breland, nine rounds, to win WBA welter title.

July 29 - Michael Carbajal KOs Muangchai Kittkasem, seven rounds, Phoenix, to win IBF jr. fly title.

Aug 11 - Pernell Whitaker KOs Juan Nazario, one round, Stateline, to unify lightweight division.

Oct 25 - Evander Holyfield KOs Buster Douglas, Las Vegas, to win heavyweight title.

Oct 25 - Ricardo Lopez KOs Hideyuki Ohashi, five rounds, Tokyo, to win WBC strawweight title.

Nov 24 - Julian Jackson KOs Herol Graham, four rounds, Spain, to win vacant WBC middleweight title.

1991

Jan 19 - Meldrick Taylor defeats Aaron Davis, 12 rounds, Atlantic City, to win WBA welter title.

Feb 9 - Terry Norris defeats Ray Leonard, 12 rounds, New York, to retain WBC jr. middleweight title. Afterwards Leonard retires.

Feb 23 - Greg Haugen defeats Hector Camacho, 12 rounds, to win WBO jr. welter title.

March 18 - Bobby Czyz defeats Robert Daniels, 12 rounds, Atlantic City, to win WBA cruiser title.

March 15 - In a clash of lightweight champions, IBF champion Tony Lopez draws with WBA champion Brian Mitchell, 12 rounds, Sacramento.

March 18 - Mike Tyson stops Razor Ruddock, seven rounds, Las Vegas, a free for all in the ring follows the bout.

March 18 - Simon Brown stops Maurice Blocker, 10 rounds, Las Vegas, to unify IBF/WBC welter titles.

May 10 - In a huge upset, James Toney stops Michael Nunn, 11 rounds, Davenport, Iowa, to win IBF middleweight title.

June 3 - Thomas Hearns defeats Virgil Hill, 12 rounds, to win WBA light heavy title.

June 28 - Azumah Nelson draws with Jeff Fenech, 12 rounds, Las Vegas, to retain WBC jr. lightweight title.

Sept 14 - Julian Jackson KOs Dennis Milton, one round, Las Vegas, to retain WBC middleweight title.

Oct 3 - Vinny Pazienza stops Gilbert Dele, 12 rounds, Providence, to win WBA jr. middleweight title.

Nov 23 - Evander Holyfield dropped in the third, stops Bert Cooper, seven rounds, Atlanta, to retain heavyweight title.

Nov 29 - Buddy McGirt decisions Simon Brown, 12 rounds, Las Vegas, to win WBC welter title.

Dec 13 - James Toney draws with Mike McCallum, 12 rounds, Atlantic City, to retain IBF middleweight title.

1992

Feb 10 - Mike Tyson gets convicted of rape in Marion, Ind. and begins serving a six-year sentence.

March 1 - Azumah Nelson stops Jeff Fenech, eight rounds, Melbourne, to retain WBC jr. lightweight title

March 20 - Iran Barkley defeats Thomas Hearns, 12 rounds, Las Vegas, to win WBA light heavy title.

April 3 - Greg Haugen stops Ray Mancini, seven rounds, Reno, to win vacant NABF jr. welter title. Mancini retires permanently afterwards.

May 9 - Terry Norris stops WBA welter champion Meldrick Taylor, four rounds, Las Vegas, to retain WBC jr. middleweight title.

May 15 - After both fighters have been down in the first, Michael Moorer gets off the deck in the third to floor and stop Bert Cooper in five rounds, Atlantic City, to win vacant WBO heavyweight title.

June 19 - Evander Holyfield defeats Larry Holmes, 12 rounds, Las vegas, to retain heavyweight title.

Sept 12 - Julio Cesar Chavez defeats hector Camacho, 12 rounds, Las Vegas, to retain WBC jr. welter title.

Oct 31 - Crisanto Espana stops Meldrick Taylor, eight rounds, London, to win WBA welter title.

Oct 31 - Lennox Lewis KOs Razor Ruddock in two rounds, London.

Nov 19 - Riddick Bowe defeats Evander Holyfield to win heavyweight title, Las Vegas. Soon afterwards, Bowe tosses the WBC title in a trashcan in protest of having to face WBC mandatory Lennox Lewis. The WBC names Lewis the new champion.

Dec 2 - Kennedy KcKinney KOs Wlcome N'Cita, 11 rounds, Torlio, Sardinia, to win IBF jr. feather title.

1993

Jan 16 - Tommy Morrison stops Carl (the Truth) Williams, eight rounds, Reno.

Feb 13 - James Toney stops Iran Barkley, nine rounds, Las Vegas, to win IBF super middleweight title.

Feb 20 - Julio Cesar Chavez stop Greg Haugen, five rounds, Mexico City, to retain WBC jr. welter title.

May 8 - Gerald McClellan stops Julian Jackson, five rounds, to win WBC middleweight title, Las Vegas.

May 22 - Roy Jones Jr. defeats Bernard Hopkins, 12 rounds, to win vacant IBF middleweight title.

June 7 - Tommy Morrison defeats George Foreman, 12 rounds, to win vacant WBO heavyweight title, Las Vegas.

June 19 - Felix Trinidad KOs Maurice Blocker, two rounds, Sand Diego, to win IBF welter title.

Sept 10 - Pernell Whitaker dominates Julio Cesar Chavez, then has to settle for a 12 round draw, San Antonio, Whitaker retains WBC welter title.

Nov 6 - Evander Holyfield defeats Riddick Bowe, 12 rounds, Las Vergas, to regain WBA/IBF heavyweight titles. In one of the stranger things to happen in boxing, a man flies into the ring by way of parachute, bout halted for nearly half an hour before resuming.

Dec 18 - Simon Brown shock Terry Norris by a four round KO, Mexico, to win WBC jr. middleweight title.

1994

Jan 29 - Julio Cesar Chavez suffers the first knockdown of his career and his first loss when he loses a 12 round decision to Frankie Randall, Las Vegas. Randall the new WBC jr. welter champion.

Jan 29 - Felix Trinidad defeats Hector Camacho, 12 rounds, Mexico, retains IBF welter title.

Feb 19 - Chiquita Gionzalez defeats Michael carbajal, 12 rounds, Inglewood, to win WBC/IBF jr. fly titles.

April 22 - Michael Moorer becomes boxing's first southpaw champion, defeating Evander Holyfield, 12 rounds, Las Vegas, winning WBA/IBF heavyweight titles.

May 7 - In a huge Las Vegas card, Julio Cesar Chavez wins by technical decision over Frankie Randall, eight rounds, Las Vegas, to regain WBC jr. welter title. Roy Jones Jr. defeats Thomas Tate, 12 rounds, to retain IBF middleweight title, Terry Norris defeats Simon Brown, 12 rounds, to regain WBC jr. middleweight title and Jesse James Leija defeats Azumah Nelson, 12 rounds, to win WBC jr. lightweight title.

June 4 - Ike Quartey stops Crisanto Espana, 11 rounds, France, to win WBA welter title.

July 23 - Mike McCallum decisions Jeff Harding 12 rounds, to win WBC light heavy title.

Sept 17 - Gabriel Ruelas defeats Jesse James Leija to win WBC jr. lightweight title.

Sept 24 - Oliver McCall KOs Lennox Lewis, two rounds, London, to win WBC heavyweight title.

Nov 5 - George Foreman, age 45 and 20 years after losing the heavyweight title, regains the WBA/IBF titles by KOing Michael Moorer, 10 rounds, Las Vegas. The win makes Foreman the oldest man to win a boxing title, heavyweight or otherwise.

Nov 18 - Roy Jones Jr. upsets James Toney by decision, 12 rounds, Las Vegas, to win IBF super middleweight title.

1995

Jan 28 - Kostya Tszyu stops Jake Rodriguez, six rounds, Las Vegas, to win IBF jr. welter title

March 4 - Pernell Whitaker defeats Julio Cesar Vasquez, 12 rounds, Atlantic City, to win WBA jr. middleweight title, his fourth world title.

March 11 - Riddick Bowe stops Herbie Hide, six rounds, to win WBO heavyweight title.

April 8 - Bruce Seldon stops Tony Tucker, seven rounds, Las Vegas, to win vacant WBA heavyweight title.

April 28 - Bernard Hopkins stops Segundo Mercado, seven rounds, Landrover, MD., to win vacant IBF middleweight title.

May 6 - Oscar De la Hoya stops Rafael Ruelas, two rounds, Las Vegas, to win IBF lightweight title.

May 20 - Evander Holyfield defeats Ray Mercer, 10 rounds, Atlantic City.

Aug 19 - Mike Tyson, in his first fight in four years, wins by DQ over Peter McNeeley, one round, Las Vegas.

Sept 2 - Frank Bruno defeats Oliver McCall, 12 rounds, London, to win WBC heavyweight title.

Oct 7 - Lennox Lewis stops Tommy Morrison, six rounds, Atlantic City. It is Morrison's last sanctioned fight in the United States as he is diagnosed with HIV, the virus that causes AIDS, not too long after this fight.

Nov 4 - Riddick Bowe, down and nearly out in the sixth, rallies back to stop Evander Holyfield, eight rounds, Las Vegas

Nov 6 - Daniel Zaragoza defeats Hector Acero-Sanchez, 12 rounds, Inglewood, to regain WBC jr. feather title.

Dec 1 - Azumah Nelson stops Gabriel Ruelas, five rounds, Calif, to regain WBC jr. lightweight title.\

Dec 9 - Francois Botha defeats Axel Schulz, 12 rounds, Stuttgart, Germany, to win vacant IBF heavyweight title. Botha later stripped after testing positive for steroids.

Dec 15 - Arturo Gatti defeats Tracy Patterson, 12 rounds, New York, to win IBF jr. lightweight title.

Dec 16 - Terry Norris defeats Paul Valden to unify WBC/IBf junior middleweight titles, Philadelphia.

1996

March 16 - Mike Tyson stops Frank Bruno, three rounds, Las Vegas, to regain WBC heavyweight title.

March 23 - In of the greatest comebacks in boxing history, Arturo Gatti, down, battered and with both eyes almost swollen shut, comes back to KO Wilson Rodriguez, six rounds, New York, to retain IBF jr. lightweight title.

June 7 - Oscar De la Hoya stops Julio Cesar Chavez, four rounds, Las Vegas, to win WBC jr. welter title.

July 11 _ Riddick Bowe wins by DQ over Ander Golota, seven rounds, Madison Square Garden. Afterwards, riots ensue in the arena between the camps of both fighters and fans.

Sept 7 - Mike Tyson stops Bruce Seldon, one round, Las Vegas, to regain WBA heavyweight title, unifying the WBC and WBA titles.

Nov 9 - Evander Holyfield stuns the boxing world by stopping Mike Tyson, 11 rounds, Las Vegas, to regain WBA heavyweight title (Tyson stripped of WBC title for facing Holyfield). Holyfield, becoming the first fighter since Muhammad Ali to win heavyweight title three times.

1997

Feb 7 - Lennox Lewis stops Oliver McCall, five rounds, after McCall has a nervous breakdown in the ring. Las Vegas, to regain the vacant WBC heavyweight title.

March 21 - Roy Jones Jr. suffers his first defeat to Montell Griffin by DQ, nine rounds, hitting Griffin while he was down. Griffin the new WBC light heavyweight champion, New York.

April 12 - Oscar De La Hoya defeats Pernell Whitaker, 12 rounds, Las Vegas, to win WBC welter title.

July 18 - Johnny Tapia defeats Danny Romero, 12 rounds, Las Vegas, to win IBF jr. bantam title.

Aug 2 - Shane Mosley defeats Phillip Holiday, 12 rounds, Conn, to win IBF lightweight title

Aug 7 - Roy Jones stops Montell Griffin, one round, Ledyard, Conn, to regain WBC light heavy title.

Oct 4 - Lennox Lewis stops Andrew Golota, one round, Atlantic City, to retain WBC heavyweight title.

Nov 8 - Evander Holyfield stops Michael Moorer to unify WBA/IBF heavyweight titles, eight rounds, Las Vegas.

Dec 19 - Prince Naseem Hamed stops Kevin Kelley, four rounds, New York.

1998

Jan 31 - Bernard Hopkins stops Simon Brown, Atlantic City, to retain IBF middleweight title.

March 7 - WBC strawweight champion Ricardo Lopez and WBA strawweight champ Rosendo Alvarez fight to a seven round technical draw, Lopez down for the only time in his unbeaten career, Mexico City.

March 28 - In what turns into an all out slugfest, Lennox Lewis stops Shannon Briggs in five rounds, Atlantic City, to retain WBC heavyweight title.

July 18 - Roy Jones Jr. defeats Lou Del Valle, 12 rounds, New York, to unify WBC/WBA light heavy titles.

Aug 22 - Ivan Robinson defeats Arturo Gatti, 10 rounds, Atlantic City in the fight of the year.

Aug 28 - William Joppy stops Robert Duran, three rounds, Las Vegas, to retain WBA middlewight title.

Oct 3 - Floyd Mayweather Jr. stops Genaro Hernandez, eight rounds, Las Vegas, to win WBC jr. lightweight title.

Nov 13 - Ricardo Lopez defeats Rosendo Alvarez by split decision, 12 rounds, Las Vegas, to unify the WBC/WBA strawweight titles.

Dec 12 - Fernando Vargas stops Yori Boy Campas, seven rounds, to win IBF jr. middleweight title, Atlantic City.

1999

Feb 13 - Oscar De la Hoya comes from behind to defeat Ike Quartey by split decision, 12 rounds, Las Vegas to retain WBC welter title.

Feb 20 - Felix Trinidad defeats Pernell Whitaker, 12 rounds, New York. Trinidad breaks Whitaker's jaw.

March 13 - The WBA/IBF heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield fights WBC champion Lennox Lewis to a 12 round draw, Madison Square Garden. Investigation starts on the scoring as Lewis dominated most of the fight.

June 5 - Roy Jones Jr. defeats Reggie Johnson, 12 rounds, to unify light heavyweight division, Biloxi, Miss.

June 26 - Paulie Ayala defeats Johnny Tapia, 12 rounds, Las Vegas, to win WBA bantam title in fight of the year.

Aug 21 - Kostya Tszyu stops Miguel Gonzalez, 10 rounds, Las Vegas, to win vacant WBC jr. welter title.

Sept 18 - Felix Trinidad defeats Oscar De La Hoya, 12 rounds, Las Vegas, to unify WBC/IBF welter titles.

Nov 13 - Lennox Lewis defeats Evander Holyfield, 12 rounds, to unify the heavyweight division, Las Vegas.

Dec 4 - Fernando Vargas comes from behind to defeat Winky Wright,, 12 rounds, Lincoln City, Ore.
