Why do we continue to allow hometown judges to ruin boxings reputation. Anyone who watched this fight neutrally Im sure would agree that Jeff Lacy was shown up for what he really is, a 1-d power fighter without the ability to change tactics mid-fight.
I had never heard of Tsypko before this fight apart from the no-contest bout with Lacy but this man travelled 6000 miles and BEAT Jeff Lacy without too much trouble only to be told by the hometown judges that he lost the fight. Although I have seen worse decisions I feel deeply sorry for Tsypko he was the better man on the night and he must have felt gutted.
It seems that if you travel to a fighters hometown and leave the decision in the hands of the judges you should prepare for disappointment, which means that unless your are a fighter with knockout power you have to really outshine your opponent to the point where there will be public outrage if the judges don't give you the decision.
You cant blame Lacy for this travesty but I will be holding my breath in anticipation of his next fight. Hopefully he will step up and show us something new.
Also I feel I should add that this isn't just an American thing it can happen anywhere in the world. Why not import neutral judges??
