  • Interview with Gerald McClellan Years After the Benn Fight

  • #2
Does Benn even feel sorry about this? I've never heard Benn speak about this fight right after he became arrogant and flaming a Mclellan who was on the canvas with a bloodcot.

I know this is boxing, but does anyone know the answer to this question?

I believe he spent the night at the hospital with Gerald's family and kissed him on the hand. This what I have read on the internet , but could be wrong.

Yes, but McClellan's sisters won't let Benn visit him and won't accept any of Benn's donations to the trust fund.

I can't see why they would do that, in boxing injuries like this happen. It's not as if Benn assaulted him outside the ring and severly beat him to cause the injury.

Oh im glad to hear something like this. Can you tell me more about this or do you have a link? I want to respect Nigel Benn.

He fought a dirty fight with rabbit punches that contributed to Gman's bloodcot.

I don't blame Benn for doing that at all. In all the pre-fight press conferences McClellan was trash-talking Benn to pieces, while Benn just kept silent all the way through apart from occasionally saying the same setance "we'll see who's the last man standing on the 25th" or just "keep talking, mate, you just keep talking and I'll see you on the 25th". Benn promised he would trade punches with McClellan from the opening bell, and because of Benn's ever-dodgy chin Everybody predicted McClellan to KO him in the early rounds, saying Benn was past-it or that McClellan would only have to land clean once or that Benn was wide open and bla bla bla. Benn had to soak it all up. Don King said McClellan would leave Benn in hospital, McClellan said he'd be happy to KILL "Brit ***" Benn (Benn told all the reporters "he says he'd like to kill me, well that's exactly what he's going to have to do - believe me"). Everybody said Benn was playing with fire, Benn told everybody else that McClellan was the one playing with fire and left it at that.

Well, man, that's just wishful-thinking from American's who can't accept that a non-American can punch as hard as Benn, if you bother to watch Benn's first 22 fights you'll realise exactly what caused McClellan's brain injury.

McClellan had the bloodcot at the start of round two I believe, because Stan Johnson says McClellan came back to his corner at the end of the second round and said "something not's right" and then "stop pouring water over my head" when nobody was pouring anything over his head!
