  • Do you believe Compubox is accurate?

I'm just making this poll to find out how credible Compubox is to you. Please vote.

    -------------------------------------------------------------

Ok before someone riggs the poll just as Compubox is rigged, I will post some conclusions.

The poll is public so you can see that nothing is rigged.

Of 24 total voters so far, 20 have voted that they don't believe Compubox is accurate. That's 83.3%

But also, as I predicted and why I made this poll like this, there's a different pattern between Floyd fans and non-Floyd fans. 37.5% of Floyd fans believe in Compubox, whereas between neutral fans, only 6.25% believe in Compubox.

    This serves for two conclusions:

Since Compubox is the main reason Floyd fans believe Floyd outlanded Pacquiao, they tend to believe more in Compubox. It can also mean that they are in general more naive about this and about boxing in general.

Also, neutral fans are very aware of how inaccurate Compubox is.

Not at all, it is not accurate. You have a monkey slamming a button every time he thinks a punch counts. Seriously, that can't be accurate there is too much room for error.

Compubox is as credible as the word of a 10$ crackwhore or a career politician, specially when coddled hypejobs or primadonnas like Floyd are involved.

the bias can be disgusting and the agenda extremely transparent in those cases.

whenever someone points at compubox numbers to prove a point, I automatically know that person has an agenda or DKSAB

No, not at all. What they claim to do is impossible in real time. If the accuracy stats were computed after the fight, with the possibility to slow down and replay exchanges, then it might work. But during the fight there's no way you can identify and track landed shots reliably.

Some times yes, other times it's ridiculous.

I think the concept is hurting the sport. It doesn't tell you which punches hurt or were effective or meaningless, etc.

No way. It is incredibly easy to debunk and anyone who uses CompuBox to support an argument about a fight shouldn't be taken seriously.

But you do know how it works right? it has nothing of "compu". It's just two guys hitting a button when they think a punch landed and hitting a button when they think a punch was thrown. That itself is inaccurate, but time has shown that it's also corrupt, so it's even worse. There are some punch counts that can't be defended in any way when you analyze the actual round.

I'm aware -- I certainly don't pay any attention to it. What I'm saying is that sometimes the numbers make sense, other times it doesn't. Either way, it's useless.
