  • Duva in Russia: "we have met with people who can buy and sell Al Haymon 15 times"

Its been enormously fruitful. We have met with so many people and its really helped me get a sense of the lay of the land, said Duva on Friday from Russia. We have more meetings. In fact, I was planning to leave here on Sunday and now we're going to push it back a few more days. We have more meetings in Moscow next week.

Thats still the tentative plan but nothing is set in stone, confirmed Duva, who added, We have a lot of pieces to to put together. There are sponsors; there are investors. Theres TV networks; theres venues and we really have got to tie all that together in one neat package. So until we've made decisions, for example, who the broadcasters are going to be, whos funding us whether its a sponsor or an investor all these things have to come together. Once we put all those things in place, then we can make a decision about opponents.

Duva continued, Its been a really fruitful trip; it was a really good idea to come here. The shame of this is that if the [WBC] purse bid had happened when it was supposed to, we would be in a position to bid.

But sadly, they pushed it and thats too bad because I really needed to come here with Sergey, take the time to make the meetings we had, to talk to the people we have talked to, explained Duva, who took heat for pulling out of the purse bid to protect their relationship with the network that had invested so much into Kovalev. We have met with some people who can buy and sell Al Haymon 15 times. We can certainly bring a fight to Russia now. I feel we could do it but we couldnt do it [then].

So do these Russians have hedge funds?

"They don't need those", answered Duva, laughing at the thought.
There's more in the link about Chilemba, Magomedov - and Beterbiev having no balls.

Ok....and...not sure what the point of that is. If she can't do it, who the **** cares.

Besides that fight would never happen in Russia nor should it happen in Russia. The most money for it would be made in Canada. And since Stevenson is the champ, Kovalev would have to fight him in his home venue anyways as per the rules of the purse bid.

I'd like to see Kovalev consistently fighting in Russia.

It's highly significant for a number of reasons.

Firstly, the WBC could still re-order the purse bid, they haven't yet taken any steps to install a new mandatory challenger.

More importantly, it means that Kovalev won't be forced to vacate whenever any Haymon fighter is installed as mandatory to his titles.

I can't see that in the WBC rules, perhaps you could point out where? From memory, Yvon Michel wrote to the WBC stating the winner of the purse bid chose the venue and the network, split was to be 50-50.

Whoever wins the purse bid, chooses where to host it

Pretty sure both fighters would make much more in Russia. I think Wlad's highest ever payday was in Russia, and not in Germany

Then that means those money men can outbid Haymon and we can get Stevenson vs. Kovalev right?

I used to like Duva but this ***** lost me.

***** knew the date of the purse bid. She couldnt have those meetings before????

Sad thing is all along the ***** would write articles and give interviews giving fans BS excuses as to why she turned down the bid. The usual dumb ass suspects lapped it all up.

The reality is she is just small time. Period. Thats the ONE AND ONLY reason the fight didnt happen.
