Comments Thread For: Nevada Commission Outline Harsh Penalties For Drug Use

The Nevada State Athletic Commission is taking a very big stand against illegal drug use by boxers and mixed martial arts competitors. Over the last few months, numbers fighters and MMA combatants have been popped for various forms of illegal drugs, mostly in connection with events which took place in Las Vegas. The NSAC has rolled out, and approved, a very strict set of guidelines and harsh penalties for all forms of drug offenses. These new rules will begin on September 1st. I'll believe it when I see it. Look at how lenient they've been with a lot of the boxers in the past several years, especially African American boxers.

That is absolutely garbage. Muscle relaxants too. Pretty draconian. What is the NFL's policy for weed? They only test between a certain time of the year for weed, which the players know about, and I believe it takes a couple times at least before they start getting suspended for more than 6 games.

18 month boxing suspension is outrageous for weed. What the hell are they thinking? It's not a PED. And that's what they should be concerned with here. Completely missed the damn point on this one.

I don't get why they are more harsh on cannabis than diuretics? Diuretics actually have a real impact on someone in terms of cutting weight in an unsafe fashion.

                  Seems ass backwards on that
